God blesses for the sake of mission, in fact, we can say God's blessing is the foundation of mission: "that your way be known on earth, your saving power among all nations" - so that the peoples and nations might praise God.
The psalm teaches that God's purpose is to be known and praised and enjoyed and feared among all the nations.
- To be known: verse 2—"That thy way may be known on the earth."
- To be praised: verse 3—"Let the peoples praise thee, O God; Let all the peoples praise thee."
- To be enjoyed: verse 4—"Let the nations be glad and sing for joy."
- To be feared: verse 7—"That all the ends of the earth may fear him."
We now live as without God in the world, full though it be of proofs of His wisdom and love... What a change when every social circle shall be a fellowship of saints, and all bent to one great purpose, the divine glory and the blessedness of each other.
God reveals His intention to fight and win the war so that His creation might worship and enjoy Him
again. He also reveals His strategy for victory, which involves sending a Promised Son.
God intends to bless humanity by removing our shame of rebellion and disobedience and restoring us once again to a good relationship with Him in His kingdom. He intends to destroy the kingdom of darkness and restore His rule over all creation.
God is active in the war. He never loses control over history. He never leaves humanity or the world alone. It is all to His glory—that He may be known, worshipped and enjoyed by all peoples
